My second of the Colorado Parks, I was able to visit Mesa Verde National Park in the off-season in early 2024. During the offseason at Mesa Verde, you can still see some of the sites and drive on Mesa Top road. It seems like this is definitely more of a summer park.
I arrived around 9am and stopped off for my NPS Passport stamp before proceeding into the park and up the mesa. The overlooks were extremely cool. It takes 30-45 minutes of straight driving to get to the best part which is Mesa Top Loop.
Mesa Top Loop
The coolest views of Mesa Verde National Park came from the Mesa Top Loop. I visited on a Tuesday morning in March and found myself mostly alone in this section of the park.
After spending a few hours at the park, I started my journey home. I crossed over Wolf Creek pass, which was one of the prettiest passes I had been over.
