Storm Chase Details
Chase Date: May 3, 2024
Miles Logged: 433
States Chased: TX
Severe Risks: SPC Outlooks
Chase Recap:
After dealing with some obligations in OKC metro, I hit the HE Bailey turnpike and headed southwest into Texas. It seemed like I may be too late for the storms, but tornadoes the day before made me resolve to at least try. The SPC had put a 10% hatch on the next day as well.
As I neared Seymour, I made the decision to go west on 114 towards developing supercells along the dryline north of Lubbock. The warm sector was small up there with the warm front coming southeast from the dryline just south of Amarillo, but I was about the same distance away from the storms south of Abilene and the Plainview storm.
As it turns out, the storms along the dryline would die out from cold outflow traveling north from the south storms. I ended up getting dinner in Post and staying the night in Snyder.
