Chase Recap:
Forecast
I had some high hopes for this day. Tornado potential seemed like a possibility. The SPC seemed to agree with adding 10% probabilities in Western North Texas.
Leaving
Taylor came to Norman and we left from Norman heading down towards Wichita Falls. We left a little late, but it seemingly worked out. We headed to Wichita Falls and then southwest towards Seymour. We dropped into Throckmorton County ahead of the approaching supercell from Haskell county. As we slipped in front of the storm, we were able to make it to Throckmorton long enough to gas up and use the restroom.
On storms
We’d head back north out of Throckmorton and then a bit west on a county road that apparently went right into someones cattle field. The farmer approached us and asked us to leave so we obliged.
We dropped south after realizing this storm had petered out. The storm to the south seemed better organized and had a wall cloud as we approached from near Albany. It didn’t take long for it to gust out as well.
Hail
We got into some small hail, and I found out Taylor had never been in hail. We hung around in the hail until the storm moved on and started our drive back to Norman.
