Chase Recap:
A good late season chase which seemed all but normal. The 4 of us headed west on I-40 and arrived to fog and cold air in Amarillo before dropping south across the warm front to Plainview where we hung out for a long period of time at the McDonalds before heading a little further north and sitting by a farm field along I-27 with horses.
Eventually storms were able to fire north of Lubbock and we dropped back south to intercept, encountering some large hail in Hale County. The roads were quite wet and so it limited our options to pavement only even in a truck. Eventually we took highway 37 east from I-27, running into some flooding on the road and almost hydroplaning.
The wall cloud and circulation was crossing the highway to our east and we slowed down to let it pass before going to highway 400 and heading north. We observed a short lived tornado to our west as we drove north.
We continued following this storm until dark and managed to get some great night time lightning shots before heading back to OK
